The Exeter Rambling Club organises guided walks every Sunday and on some weekdays and evenings during summer. We are a members club with membership drawn from Exeter and the surrounding area. Visitors and new members are always welcome. The Club was formed in 1938 and is affiliated to the Ramblers Association.

The Walking Programme

We walk in Devon and Somerset including Dartmoor and Exmoor, Dorset, and sometimes Cornwall. There is an extensive programme of walks with up to two walks every Sunday, either short (5-8 miles) or longer (9-12 miles). There are usually about 15 members walking each week. A quarterly programme of our current walks can be accessed from the programme link. We meet in Exeter and share cars (and expenses) to reach the starting point of the walk.

Other Activities

We have some social events and short evening summer walks. Our evening mid-week walks usually finish at or near a pub where refreshment can be obtained. An annual lunch is held in January where members with friends are most welcome. We hold occasional weekends away and also an annual walking holiday abroad. Occasional social events such as skittle evenings etc. are organised. All members are welcome to offer ideas for coach trips, holidays and social events which, where possible, should be for walking and non-walking members.

New Members to the Club

This is a friendly club for people who enjoy the pleaures of walking as a member of a group. If you feel that you would like to explore membership, without obligation, then please open the membership link. The administration of the club is provided on a voluntary basis by the members so the annual membership fee (£4.00 per person but £6.00 per couple) is kept to a minimum.
